On FaceBook one need to fully realize the potential of the friends in several areas of human interest. I wished to chiefly refer to their intellect and power of analysis, skillful and effective communication, precision, the spirit of exploring nature and life of the people of the country, of geography and human activities in art, agriculture and their interest in science and agriculture of Bharat. Every region of India has its unique features and inhabited by a different set of people with their own cultural practices about which efforts have continued to share the information and knowledge for ages, now.
Recently I was gifted a copy (sent via Speed-Post) of an excellent publication 'UDAIPUR-Seen and Unseen' by Prof. Pushpendra Singh Ranawat who is one of the key persons in Udaipur in the field of heritage conservation, management, and popularization. He has taught Geology as a discipline at Mohan Lal Sukhadia University. I got connected with him through FaceBook due to common interests and his liking of the material posted on my Wall. I thank him for giving appreciation to my pursued interests.
This book is an endeavor in the friendship of two types of talents in two personalities viz. Prof. Hiroshi Shimazaki and Prof. Pushpendra Singh Ranawat: whereas Prof. Hiroshi did watercolor paintings of Udaipur at vantage points that were not frequented by artists and photo-enthusiasts, Prof. Pushpendra penned the beautiful single-page notes for each of the painting in describing its location, significance, history, and, of course, the charm that made into history for ages about the valorous Rajput clan of Rajasthan in bountiful Udaipur. For 1200 years, the Kingdom of Mewar has been ruled by the Supreme Lord Mahadeva and its Dewans, the Maharanas of Udaipur or the Guhilot dynasty successfully preserved its freedom and culture.
The book gives a fascinating read of the combination of visuals with words. Besides the illustrated publication Prof. Ranawat also sent me three leaflets about the GeoHeritage Project in Mewar. I congratulate Prof. Ranawat and wish to continue with him as a friend.
